Registered Clubs Update 0908

In relation to club compliance generally, Eastern Commercial Lawyers are strong advocates of the Club Self Audit issued by the Office of Liquor Gaming & Racing in August 2008.

The Self Audit is relatively comprehensive and provides an ideal opportunity for a club to review its own operations openly and honestly.  Whilst the Self Audit can be time consuming, In our view it is a worthwhile exercise to undertake.  It gives a club the opportunity to identify areas of non-compliance, rather than being caught by surprise by the Police or DGR Inspectors.

Some of our clients have opted to have Eastern Commercial Lawyers conduct the Audit on their behalf.  Eastern Commercial Lawyers conducts the Audit on a "covert" basis during peak trading periods.  It is considered likely that such Audits will produce different results from an Audit being undertaken by employed club staff.
